Wisper Internet Gives Back: Supporting SEMO Food Bank in Sikeston, Missouri

Volunteering at SEMO Food Bank reinforces Wisper Internet’s commitment to strengthening the communities we serve throughout Southeast Missouri. Recently, Wisper Marketing Coordinator Kendra Rennegarbe spent the day volunteering at the Southeast Missouri Food Bank (SEMO Food Bank) in Sikeston, Missouri, helping support an organization that provides critical hunger relief to thousands of local families.

Making a Difference at SEMO Food Bank

At Wisper Internet, community involvement is more than a core value. It is a responsibility. That’s why we are proud to support organizations such as SEMO Food Bank, which plays a vital role in combating food insecurity throughout Southeast Missouri.

During her visit, Kendra received a guided tour from Justin Mann, Volunteer Manager at SEMO Food Bank, providing an inside look at the organization’s operations and impact. SEMO Food Bank serves 16 counties across Southeast Missouri, partners with approximately 200 food pantries and community agencies, and helps provide food assistance to more than 70,000 individuals throughout the region.

Learning about the scale of the organization’s mission highlighted just how important community support and volunteer engagement are in helping local families access nutritious food.

Packing Senior Food Boxes for Local Residents

Following the tour, Kendra joined other volunteers in packing senior food boxes for older adults throughout Southeast Missouri. These food boxes help seniors maintain access to healthy meals and essential nutrition.

SEMO Food Bank prepares and distributes approximately 5,600 senior food boxes every month, ensuring vulnerable community members receive reliable food assistance.

Volunteer opportunities such as senior food box packing allow businesses, individuals, and community groups to make a direct and tangible impact on the lives of their neighbors.

The Impact of Volunteerism in Southeast Missouri

Each year, thousands of volunteers contribute their time at SEMO Food Bank through food sorting, packing programs, warehouse assistance, food drives, and special events. The organization welcomes volunteers from across the region to help meet the growing need for hunger relief services.

Volunteer efforts are essential to helping SEMO Food Bank efficiently distribute food to families, children, and seniors facing food insecurity throughout Southeast Missouri. You can sign up to help here.
