Dialing 9-1-1 with Peace of Mind

The Benefits of VoIP in Emergency Situations In today’s digital age, internet-based calling through Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is becoming an essential tool for personal and professional communication. But what many don’t realize is that VoIP’s benefits extend beyond daily convenience and cost-savings—particularly when it comes to emergency services. With enhanced 911 (E911) capabilities, VoIP provides peace of mind in the case of an emergency by making it easier for emergency services to locate and assist you quickly. 1. Enhanced 911 (E911) Support with VoIP One of the most critical features of VoIP technology is its support for Enhanced 911, or E911. Unlike traditional phones, VoIP allows emergency services to receive crucial information, such as the caller’s address and phone number, almost instantly. This means responders can locate the caller’s position with greater precision, even if the person is unable to speak or provide their location. With E911, VoIP systems automatically transmit the caller’s registered location to emergency operators. This is especially useful in residential and business settings where emergencies can occur without the time or ability to provide details verbally. 2. Improved Response Times and Accuracy When seconds matter, having the right location is paramount. VoIP’s E911 capabilities provide a more efficient route to fast, accurate assistance. Traditional landlines depend on fixed locations, while mobile phones rely on cell towers for approximate location data. VoIP, on the other hand, enables emergency personnel to pinpoint specific locations tied to your registered VoIP address. For businesses with VoIP phone systems, this can mean rapid assistance on large campuses or multi-floor offices where the exact location is crucial. Quick response times ensure help arrives precisely when and where it’s needed, minimizing the potential for escalation or further harm. 3. VoIP and Multiple Devices One of the benefits of VoIP is that it isn’t tied to a single device or location, making it adaptable for multi-device households and workplaces. Since VoIP services can be accessed through phones, tablets, and computers, you can initiate emergency calls from various devices, increasing the chances that help will reach you swiftly. 4. Added Security for Vulnerable Individuals For seniors, people with disabilities, or anyone living alone, the peace of mind that comes with reliable E911 support through VoIP is invaluable. By eliminating the need to dial a specific area code or confirm a location, VoIP simplifies the process, ensuring emergency personnel have access to accurate information even in high-stress situations. Setting Up E911 on Your VoIP Service Setting up E911 for your VoIP service is simple but essential. When you subscribe to a VoIP provider, you’ll typically be prompted to enter your physical address. Be sure to keep this address up to date, especially if you move or spend extended periods in different locations. With VoIP’s E911 capabilities, you gain peace of mind knowing that, in an emergency, help can find you quickly and effectively. If you’re ready to embrace a communication solution that goes beyond conventional calling, consider switching to VoIP for a safer, more responsive option that you can rely on. At Wisper, We Believe Internet is an Essential Utility

If you’re thirsty, just turn on the faucet. That’s a pretty easy concept. When it gets dark, just flip a switch and the lights come on. We need these things to function in our everyday lives. Try doing without either one of them, for a day, or even just a few hours. Not gonna happen, right? Now, think about not having internet for a day. You may think it’s no big deal but take a minute and realize almost everything you do, short of talking to someone in person, or the prehistoric concept of reading a real newspaper, book, or magazine, actually made of paper, utilizes some sort of electronic signal. Where do those signals come from? We all pay, or if you’re lucky your parents pay, an electric bill each month that keeps our homes illuminated, warm, and entertained. Water is no different. If we need more electricity for something we simply get into the junk drawer and grab some batteries. If we need more water, stores sell it in bottles, jugs, and cans. We can stock up on both before a snowstorm, party, or trip and can get as much of them whenever and pretty much wherever we want. But what about internet? You’ve gotta have it! In today’s world where everyone is running their lives online, you can’t say your internet “works most of the time”. You can’t produce it yourself in your basement or garage or store it in the kitchen, and you certainly can’t go to the minimart up the street and buy internet in a bottle. In some areas, you don’t have the internet at all, or you’re stuck with one company providing you terrible service, or just making promises and never delivering on a product you absolutely need for your everyday life, just like water or power. You don’t really have a choice who you get your electricity from unless you live off the grid and if so, you’re probably going to burn this for heat as soon as you read it. If you don’t like the water that comes into your home you can filter it or simply choose to drink from those bottles, jugs, or cans. What do you do if the internet connecting your house isn’t any good? Luckily, you do have a choice on which company keeps your family connected to work, school and play. Seriously, if you had to choose between a national, faceless corporation or a homegrown company with employees who grew up, live, and are raising their families in communities just like the one you love, who would you pick? Wisper Internet was born and raised in the cornfields of Illinois and understands real people. Wisper has even been called a “company with a soul”. That soul is what drives Wisper to provide the best products and the best service to the communities we serve every day. Although Wisper has expanded to 20,000 customers across six states, it all started with a neighbor who needed to get connected 20 years ago. If you listen to the experts, wireless internet is the future and Wisper is already decades ahead of the faceless corporations who are constantly bombarding you with commercials. Wisper has connected and loved small towns for years. You know other companies have not kept their promises to your hometown, and the corporations aren’t coming to your neighborhood. Not to worry, Wisper is most likely already there. If not, we will be there soon. Wisper cares about small towns because that’s where we live too…. Read More

Storms Affect Wisper Internet System

After a series of widespread severe and tornadic storms rolled through several areas of Missouri and Illinois over the weekend, Wisper Internet crews are assessing damage and moving resources to restore service to any of our customers who may have been affected. Crews in the field have determined many of the repairs need to be done on the towers themselves and due to the frequency of the storms and high winds, it has been too dangerous for technicians to climb the towers. Further damage to the Wisper infrastructure may be discovered during the daylight hours Monday, but rest assured our team of tower techs and engineers will be working as quickly as possible to get service restored. Outage updates can be found on the Network Status tracker…. Read More
